The Technology Endorsement (NP) Courses
CEP 820: Teaching K-12 Students Online
Instructors: Leigh Graves-Wolf & Andrea Zellner
Summer 2011
The goals of this course were to research the positives and negatives of various Classroom Management Systems (CMS), choose a CMS that works best for a particular grade and learning style, and create a CMS that would be used in the classroom. I decided to make a hybrid Geography course using WikiSpaces for 4th graders. Since my district began a new reading program, the emphasis on Social Studies decreased. So, I wanted to design a course that could still cover all the Social Studies content, use technology as both a tool and motivator to do the work, and encourage parental involvement because the course essentially "flipped my classroom". I was able to choose the platform, design, assessment, forms of communication, and content. Check out my CMS Critical Review to see my thinking after I designed the course.
I still use this Wiki with my 4th graders to teach Geography every fall. My students enjoy the course and ask for more flipped projects. In addition, this course is great to show my student teachers so they can see various models of teaching and learning in the classroom.

Summer Cohort Classes on MSU Campus
- CEP 800: Psychology of Learning in School and Other Settings
- CEP 815: Technology and Leadership
- CEP 822: Approaches to Educational Research
Instructors: Punya Mishra, Sara Beauchamp-Hicks, & Jessica Knott
Summer 2010
This hybrid, three-course, integrated seminar brings together a study of technology, teaching, and learners. The class met for 2 full weeks on MSU campus to discuss the implementation of TPACK, create projects, and learn about and try new tools in a safe environment where we were encouraged to ask and answer questions. We then worked online for 4 weeks before coming back for one last day on campus to share our work. Throughout the time together on-campus and online, my class explored various uses of technology and what is currently known--or believed--about human learning and development. This was, by far, the most creative course I have taken. I was inspired to incorporate creative projects into my curriculum because I learned that expressing oneself in a meaningful way that makes sense fosters learning and development.
Dream IT! A Technology Based Grant Proposal
I wrote a grant proposal for a classroom set of laptops intended to promote home-school communication by introducing children to blogging and social networking to display work.

Understanding Understanding Video
A group project made by The Bobs to reveal the misconceptions children and adults have about condensation. Our Condensation Website has more information on our project. Click on the image to watch the video.
Creative and Critical Thinking Wiki
Here you will find research, videos, and information to aid other MAET students in writing their Dream IT proposals.
Physics Ball Drop Video
The Bobs group had one hour to shoot, edit, and publish a video showing what happens when you drop a ball while standing, walking, and running. We used a flip camera, Photoshop, and MovieMaker to create the video.
Concept Mapping Using Vue and Jing
The Bobs presented on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences using concept mapping software (Vue) and screen capturing software (Jing).
Behaviorism Video
Classical Conditioning and Cueing are explored in this video made by The Bobs using Window Movie Maker, Blabberize, TubeChop, and Jing. Our group concluded that most software programs use cueing but do not use Classical Conditioning as a way to motivate students.
De-Motivational Poster
After watching a video by Daniel Pink on motivation, our group made a Demotivational poster in the style of www.despair.com using Google Presentation and Flickr.
Cool Video Tools Wiki
Various video Web 2.0 video technologies were reviewed and presented to the class with this Wiki.
Final Reflection Paper
I focused on how I have grown as an educator by taking these courses. In addition, I tell my plans for further development for the next 5 years.
